Some people call the police or an ambulance in case of an emergency, others take a sedative.

When I face an emergency, I go into the kitchen and cook.

 

During the Gulf War, when people wore masks and relaxed by drinking water, I soaked legumes, fried eggplant. I created new recipes.

 

When Bibi announced, at a press conference, the emergency measures due to the Corona

epidemic, I found myself clattering the pots in the kitchen.

 

It reminded me the time I was in California last year where I came across a cookbook written during World War II.   The book was written to teach mid-20th-century housewives how to have a home-kitchen during times of crisis and also included the lack of basic necessities.

One quote from the writer is particularly engraved in my memory:

“There is no chiropractic treatment, no yoga exercise, no hour of meditation in a music -throbbing chapel, which will leave you emptier of bad thoughts than this homely ceremony of making bread”

Cooking calms me down, gives me a sense of control over life.

If we can't control the viruses that attack us or the governments that lead us, at least we can control what we eat. This is important for our physical health and important for our mental health.

 

Believe me: Cooking is where I control my hands.

My veteran brand – “Chez Rina” is recruiting to meet the demand created in the culinary field; demand for good quality, tasty and nutritious food like the “good-old-days  housewife”, but also as indulgent and delectable as a good restaurant.

 

Food that we are used to eating in restaurants that are closed these days and will probably remain closed for a long time.

You can eat at home and visit me later in my beautiful courtyard in moshav  Taoz and eat in the fresh air.
